Children of Tani - The Galo People

By- Damyeer Teresa Maro

Where hills kiss the morning sky, And the rivers hum ancient lullabies, There lives a tribe so proud and free. The Galo people of Arunachal’s harmony.
A unique tradition lives in every name. Linking child and father in a sacred chain, From the last few letters the father bears. The child’s name is formed with love and care. Like Adam giving Damyeer his sound, A bond of identity passed gently down.
Oyik grows in Arunachal’s side Where the mountain mists reside, Boiled in water, pure and plain, Soft and slippery like monsoon rain. “A taste Galo hearts can’t resist.”
When Mopin comes, the hills rejoice, With rice and faith, with hearts so wide.
From ancient roots to futures drawn, Their culture lives, forever strong. In hills, in names, in song and prayer The Galo spirit lives everywhere.
